Cosmetic Tattooing/Permanent Makeup
What is "Permanent Make-up"?
Permanent Makeup, also known as Micro-pigmentation, cosmetic tattooing or dermal-pigmentation is a process whereby completely natural pigments are implanted beneath the epidermis (top layer of skin), into the dermal layer (second layer of skin). This produces designs that resemble makeup, such as eyeliner, eyebrow and lip color. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost it as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia, chemotherapy or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and white spots in the skin such as in vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such after breast surgery. This technique has been medically developed and specifically designed for a safe application.
The pigments have been designed for cosmetic application.

Are Permanent Cosmetics really permanent?
Technically, permanent cosmetic procedures are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the skin and cannot be washed off. However, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance.

How long does each procedure take?
The initial procedure will  take approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Follow up procedures usually do not require as much time as the initial procedure.

What is the aftercare?
The aftercare consists of using an ointment 5 times a day for approx. 5 days to keep the tattooed area from drying out and forming a scab. If a scab forms it can pull the color out with it when it comes off. Icing is very benficial to the tattooed area. Eyeliner and lips tend to swell easier than the eyebrows. Ice should be applied after procedure.

Does it hurt?
Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Topical anesthetics are used throughout the procedure. You should be able to tolerate the procedure with little discomfort.
